Guyanese Cultural Festival: Celebrating Guyana's Independence on Saturday, May 26 at Central Library

GUYANESE CULTURAL FESTIVAL 

CELEBRATING GUYANA'S INDEPENDENCE

In honor of Guyana’s Independence Day, join Queens Library in celebrating the rich and diverse culture of Guyana.  The event will feature performances by local musicians and dancers, film screenings, traditional costumes, and more. Meet Guyanese-Americans professor Grace Aneiza Ali and TV reporter Jennifer Bisram, plus watch Payalia Dance Company collaborate with International Dancer Zaman and Radha Singh and band.

 

Schedule of Events:

  • 11am-12pm: Talk with Grace Aneiza Ali
  • 12-1pm: Talk with Jennifer Bisram
  • 12-1:30pm: Short Film Screenings of Seawall, Rebecca’s Story, and Echoes from The Plantation
  • 2-4pm: Featured Concert, Payalia Dance Company in collaboration with International Dancer Zaman, DJ Neil Partap, and Radha G. Singh and band
